She wanted to build 3 trainings. I told her to build zero.

Reader,

I had a consultation with an amazing creator the other week.

She’s a highly experienced educator with a very specific, very differentiated approach.

Recently, schools started reaching out, asking, “Can you come in and do professional development for our staff?”

During our consult, we sketched out possible training topics she could pitch.
And at one point, she asked: "Should I tell them these are new trainings I’m creating now?”

Short answer: no.

Longer answer:

  1. No one wants to feel like a guinea pig.
  2. It's not new. You've been teaching it for years, you know it works. This is just a new format.
  3. You don’t need to build the whole thing before you pitch it.

This is the part where a lot of smart, capable people accidentally make their lives harder.

“Should I first spend days creating the training… and then pitch it?”

Absolutely not.

The more strategic move:

  1. Come up with 2–3 strong training ideas
  2. Pitch them clearly and confidently
  3. See what schools are actually excited about
  4. Then invest the time creating that training.

When they show interest, you spend about a week building a talk, slides, and resources.

And you avoid spending weeks building something no one wanted in the first place.

This is what validating an offer actually looks like in real life.

Because there are a million things you could offer the world.
But your time is finite. Your attention is finite.
Spend them where you've already seen proof of demand.

If you’re sitting on an idea you’ve been “perfecting” for months, consider this your gentle nudge.

What are you going to pitch-then-build in 2026? Hit reply. I’d love to hear. 😊

P.S. — This exact kind of thinking — validating offers before overbuilding, pressure-testing ideas in the real world, and scaling what’s already working — is something we go deep on inside ScaleTribe.
