2026 — strategic neglect?

Reader,

The internet is currently overflowing with:

  • 2026 goals
  • 2026 intentions
  • 2026 ambitious color-coded plans.

And it’s…enticing.
I love a good goal as much as the next productivity-prone human. 😁

My default setting: do more.

I tend to measure my days by one metric:
“How much did I get done?”
(I know that's hardly the most meaningful metric out there. Working on it.)

BUT.

It’s also why I’m chronically optimistic about timelines. 🙈
“Yes, I can do that today.”
“Yes, this week is totally realistic.”
“Yes, yes, yes.”

Just ask Gavriella Schwartz, my indefatigable project manager.

And when I don’t say yes —
when I push something to next week, next month, or never —
there’s this subtle deflation.

Like I’ve failed some invisible productivity test.

Recently, I’ve been trying to reframe that moment.

What if deprioritizing isn’t a weakness — but a strength?

When you intentionally deprioritize something, you’re not being lazy or slow. You’re saying: I’m being thoughtful. I’m being strategic. Not everything deserves my attention right now, or ever.

The truth is, checking items off a task list isn’t productivity. It’s activity.

Real productivity is identifying the few things that actually move the needle — and having the discipline to defer, delegate, or delete everything else.

And careful prioritization compounds.

So if you’re setting goals right now, Reader, here’s a quiet counter-prompt to sit with:

👉 What are you intentionally deprioritizing in 2026 — so the right things actually have room to grow?

Hit reply and tell me one thing you’re giving less energy to this year.

I read every response — and I have a feeling the answers will be far more interesting than yet another goals list. 😁

P.S. — One thing we spend a lot of time on inside ScaleTribe is learning how to prioritize the things that are actually profitable — not just the things that feel productive in the moment.

If 2026 is the year you stop confusing busyness with growth, ScaleTribe may be an excellent fit.
